O tempora, o mores!

or intro to my article “Realization of proportionality in the criminalization of hate speech: Ukrainian perspective”

I always was and would be a HUGE fan of art.8 of the European Convention on human rights. My obsession with researching human nature vs state restrictions stems from this article that guarantees the right to respect for private and family life, home, and correspondence. Who can say that nowadays in ALL KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYONE (and SHARING WILLINGLY, OF COURSE) mode of living is something more important than to ensure you can have something left as unsaid and unrevealed? I guess no one. But I do have this strong willingness to protect this right for all of us even though we are keen to neglect it now to some point.

However, this year the focus of my interest was switched on freedom of speech and its limitations research. O tempora, o mores! Political life becomes more intense. Cancel culture, media propaganda and cyberwarfare is definitely a starting point to consider freedom of speech and self-expression from a new perspective in Ukraine. This article is influenced rather by political rights and freedom of the person vs freedom of speech limitation by state and hate speech concept variations for the state to consider before implementing into our social reality. More to come!
